Which Part Of Bike Needs Grease?
To properly maintain your bicycle, it’s crucial to know which components require greasing. The critical areas that demand regular greasing attention include bearings and bushings. Depending on the type of bike you have, such as a road, gravel, or Hardtail bike, these key points for greasing are the headset bearings, hub bearings, and the threads of the bottom bracket bearings. By addressing these components with grease, you ensure smooth and efficient operation, prolonging the life of your bike. (Published on December 28, 2020)
What Is Bike Assembly Grease?
Bike assembly grease, commonly known as Fenwick’s Assembly Grease, is a specialized and high-quality lubricant engineered to enhance the longevity and performance of bicycle components. This grease features a low-friction formula that effectively reduces wear and tear, thus extending the lifespan of various bike parts. One of its standout attributes is its exceptional resistance to water, thanks to its distinctive adhesive and cohesive properties. This quality ensures that the grease remains in place even in wet and challenging environments, preventing water ingress that can lead to corrosion and premature component wear. In summary, bike assembly grease is a vital tool for cyclists and bike mechanics, serving as a protective barrier against water damage and a means to promote smooth and durable bike operation.
Should You Grease Bike Screws?
Should you apply grease to your bike screws? Generally, using grease as a surface preparation option is a suitable practice, although there are some important considerations to keep in mind. Greasing is particularly useful for threads commonly found on components such as mounting bolts, bottom brackets, pedals, axle nuts, and more. The primary purpose of applying grease to these threads is to lubricate them effectively, which enables you to tighten them to the correct torque specifications. This practice ensures that your bike’s various components are securely fastened, contributing to the overall safety and performance of your bicycle. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, this remains a recommended practice within the biking community.
